Washington Boulevard Officially Opens

Surrey Paving’s newest project opened October 12 with an official Road Opening Ceremony at the Car Park at Michi SuperCenter. Transport Minister Mike Henry delivered the main address at the ceremony, which was organized by the Ministry of Transport and Works and the National Works Agency.

 

The ceremony was a symbolic opening of the Washington Boulevard/Dunrobin Avenue roadway as part of the Fifth Road Improvement Project.

 

There were remarks and greetings from several government and other officials including: MPs DerrickC. Smith, Delroy Chuck, Karl Samuda and Dr. Peter Phillips; Daniel Best, Project Coordinator, Caribbean Development Bank; Patrick Wong, EEO National Works Agency; Michael Lawson, President of the Half-Way Tree Community Developoment Committee; and Stephen A. Shaw, Communications and Customer Services Manager at NWA. Rev. Devon Dick of Boulevard Baptist Church gave the prayer.
