Washington Boulevard gets ready for full use by end of month
Workmen contracted to Surrey Paving and Aggregate Company Limited and the National Works Agency seen here putting finishing touches to the extensive roadworks on Washington Boulevard in St Andrew.
The multibillion-dollar road widening and repair is expected to be completed by the end of September, according to Surrey officials.
For the rest of this week, workmen will be busy completing paving, inserting traffic lights and street lights, and marking the road.
Already, traffic flow along the busy thoroughfare is flowing much more smoothly and there is less congestion in rush hour.
The project, which started on January 1, 2010 involves the widening of the roadway, the construction of three new bridge structures, and improvements to the underground system.
