V.C. Bird International Airport - Antiqua 2007
In 2006 Surrey Paving was invited to undertake the emergency repairs to the runway, the widening of the existing taxiway, a culvert going across the taxiway and the contraction of a new link from the taxiway to the runway, all in time for the 2007 Cricket World Cup starting in March, construction started February 2007.
Surrey was working on roadworks in Nevis at the time and were able to barge the equipment needed over, due to the short contract period we utilized the Antigua’s Government Asphalt plant along with their quarry material to produce the asphaltic concrete needed for the contract and set up our own Laboratory on site to undertake the testing needed in the specification.
Working in close partnership with the Consultants Scott Wilson and the main contractor Andrade Guierrez Construction SA, all emergency works were completed on time for the World Cup Cricket tournament to start.
